Fandom Wrangling

With large franchises, how would nominators like their fandoms categorized?

All Media Types? Subfandoms? By time period?

Make a thread for your franchise or respond to the one already in existence, and discuss in the thread comments.

Nominations will be approved according to the end result at June 1 11:59 PM EST, when the nominating period begins.

Note: The mod has no control over where in the tag set a fandom appears.

Arrowverse - I'd like Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman together.

X-Men Movieverse - Merged, but being able to specify what timeline you want a ship to be if you have a preference.

DCEU - Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Justice League, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam merged together

MCU - Movies as one group, Netflix shows as a second, other shows separate.

DCU (Comics) - The main continuity comics together, with the option to specify Earth or status relevant to Crisis on Infinite Earths/Flashpoint. More standalone works that aren't part of the primary ongoing narrative separate like Red Son or Bombshells.

Marvel (Comics) - Merged but with the ability to specify what Earth when you nominate.

Marvel Netflix isn't actually recognised as a fandom by AO3 and the nomination form will consider it MCU, creating a bunch of backend mod work. Leaving the shows separate is imo the simplest solution. Could also nominate everything Netflix under The Defenders, even if not technically a Defenders-the-show pairing.

Then call it something like "MCU (Netflix Shows)".

There are also a bunch of variations it won't recognise, but that one might be unexpected enough to sneak by, yeah.

For Tolkien and related fandoms, I suggest the following division:

-The Silmarillion
-The Lord of the Rings (book)
-The Lord of the Rings (movies)

I don't have strong feelings about whether The Hobbit is divided between book and movies or combined as AMT, so I'll let other people comment on that.
